New London Fabulous

Curated design excellence

In a post Covid-19 world, this new movement feels like a breath of fresh air.

The term 'New London Fabulous' was coined by Adam Nathaniel Furman in a live interview with Dezeen, to describe a group of creatives currently working in the capital; including himself, Camille Walala and Yinka Ilori.

Areas of work include public art, alongside product design and interior design schemes and projects.

Delve into the colour trend yourself and enjoy bringing colour into your home

Getting back to my Italian roots, I'm delighted to see Alessandro Michele's stunning interiors collection come to life.

Gucci are a late entry into the luxury interiors market but certainly one that's going to prove to be very popular due to their debut collections playful and colourful approach to design.

Gucci takes home the interiors throne for 2019.

KAIA Lighting by Anna Paganelli

Designer and founder Peter Straka is the creative force behind KAIA.

EDS are big fans of his lighting collections; stunning sculptural forms made to perfection.

Alongside core collections featuring ranges including Ora, Lia and Lin, you can order purely bespoke creations including a new black finish.

Hot tip: Make a spectacle of large sculptural lighting in stairwells and hallways

Lin: 'Cutting Through Darkness' featuring three vertical luminaires fixed at a central point; a statement with minimalism.

Bar & Restaurant Trends: Casaplata Restaurant by Anna Paganelli

Concrete Minimalism

Design by: Lucas-y-Hernandez

Images: Juan Delgado

This stylish Seville restaurant, perfectly encapsulates the continuing trend of minimalist design within the hospitality industry.

Silver grey’s with pops of rich colour including blues, greens, yellows, reds and peach, adorn this clean, contemporary space, oozing concrete charm.

Guests will love to explore the space, complete with dedicated areas offering a variety of drinking and dining experiences, from day through to night.

EDS love just how current the overall look is. Uniqueness is not easy to find in a branded world but the commerciality of the design perfectly ensures the world’s eyes are firmly focussed on this beautiful interior space.

Hot Tip: EDS love the effect of the room's walls being coated in pink-hued gypsum

The Minimalist Dream by Anna Paganelli

Less is always more.

In minimalist architecture and interior design, the overall look is one of simplicity and clean lines.

When looking at mindful living and minimalism as an interior design look, decluttering is key; your living style needs to compliment simplicity. Ensuring stacks of sleekly hidden storage helps with practical maintenance.

Subtle geometric forms, structures and materials adorned by natural light ensures the calm fluidity of living in a minimalist space.

Hot Tip: keep feature tones light and compliment with bespoke, hand crafted products. Accessories and lighting make or break a minimalist space - quality is everything.

Designing Mindful Happiness: Textiles by Anna Paganelli

Tactile Textures:

Adding visual triggers to your home through the addition of textiles, immediately enhances the atmosphere of an interior and is a key element when considering mindful design.

Use textiles as 'tactile' triggers; crafted and handmade pieces are ideal, coupled with contemporary purchases.

Mix up different looks and fabrics, according to the rooms your decorating and your own individual style as we show here.

Top tip: Seasonal changes are ideal for creating a fresh new look and vibe.

Designing Mindful Happiness: Mementos by Anna Paganelli

Part 2 - How to plan a mindful living space

Sharing memories

Memento's are familiar items which have usually been collected over the years and have a sentimental meaning and memory behind them.

Often they can trigger a smile on your face and can provoke conversation from guests upon their viewing

Sometimes in design, an aesthetic can be created around such items, or you can factor them in.

Overall, they help to induce a feeling of calm and nostalgia of happy times. The joy this brings will in time create a naturally positive attitude and ambience.

Top tip: when presenting items, ensure they don't look 'overly cluttered' they should ensure balance within the overall space

An interview with Moroso by Anna Paganelli

We had the pleasure of meeting Andrea Bazzaro, Sales & Marketing executive from Moroso, London.

MorosoIMG_7114 2.jpg

Please describe Moroso's philosophy

Moroso is about celebrating diversity and freedom to express people’s talents and ideas.

We like to let designers feel free and not to limit them with briefs or specific guidelines with regards to the aesthetics and functionality of a product. For us, every product is a project, a journey with no set direction.

Since 1952, we have been crafting furniture. All of our support to designers, is based on this knowledge and experience and the open mindedness that helps us understand different ideas and points of view.

Screen Shot 2018-08-16 at 19.31.02.png

Why do you think Moroso continues to be at the forefront of London's design and retail scene?

As a brand, we keep on innovating and inspiring designers and as a London team, we like to take a tailored approach.

This means not working with too many partners to make ensure we can always provide fast support, whilst offering the designer support that is so much needed; especially where time is crucial and never enough.

The richness of our portfolio offers us the possibility of tackling different environments and completely different spaces; guaranteeing sublime design with the best quality.

How are customer tastes changing and what looks do you see coming through in 2019?

We're noticing there's a constant “contamination” between different spaces.

Residential was inspired by hospitality and now it's influencing a lot the trends we see in commercial spaces; where the office now has to be a home from home.

People now want to buy what they see or experience in their co-working space or office.

IMG_7103.jpg

How do you see designers and your clients, utilising principles of well-being through product and interior design?

Clients and designers are more and more conscious about comfort and ergonomics.

We now find that designers and clients want to have first-hand experience of the products, before specifying or signing off a project. Despite the fact that we're in an digital era; with furniture, the story is slightly different.

People still want to feel the comfort, make sure is right for the space you are designing and see the quality of every little detail.

Especially in workplaces, furniture, materials and colour selections are all crucial to guaranteeing a more enjoyable workplace, enhancing someone's overall wellbeing and experience.

Do you have anything planned for the London Design Festival?

We're having a private event during the London Design Festival, to celebrate our work with the London designer and artist, Bethan Laura Wood.

It will be a vibrant display of furniture, tapestries, rugs and small furniture, all very colourful and beautifully crafted.

New products will be launched towards the end of the year too.
